Thread: suspension upgrades

As with most things, you get what you pay for.

I'd love a set of Koni's for ?200 but it's never gonna happpen. You just gotta bite the bullet.

I think mine were around that 365-370 area too.

The bonus with the Koni's is that they are infinitely adjustable between their full soft and full hard settings.

yep got to agree with john, the konis are worth the extra, but a close second for me were KYB's,i had them on my 1.5 and they were superb for the money.

how much are KYBs then ? got a new set to go on project black but bought them off a guy I knew so all in only cost me ?200 for all 4 corners with custom springs and full set of polybushes ! I also got KYBs on the NA and they are damned brilliant !

they are good arent they sam,i was well chuffed with mine, people knock them but i couldnt fault them to be honest...the konis just go one step further with the adjustability.

all this adjustabilty stuff is bollox anyway unless you really know what yuour doing with it (which I dont) I adjust my tockicos for either hard, bloody hard, fecking hard or taking the piss there aint no suspension under them arches hard ! My bike is adjustable for damping, preload, rebound front and rear amd fecked if I know how to set that mofo up (although a day with a good book helps) as you have to set sag and then go from there all a bunch of complex arse. Now that I have slated adjutable suspension I did once have my bike set up by a pro and did make a huge difference but no way I could have done it on me own !

KYBs are superb and it would suprise alot to see how many cars on the road run them as standard fitment !

Any idea on set of four at normal "new" uk price, as my current set I bought second hand never used, and the other set I bought when I had a trade account so were quite cheap again so no idea what the normal price is for them !

Got to agree with you to some point sam (although I'll probably end up going the Koni route); The other thing to rememeber is that it's the DAMPING that your adjusting on Koni's - your springs still play a major role in the equation. For the majority of people, I'd say KYB's would be just fine and dandy, followed up with a proper 4 wheel alignment job.

It still makes me chuckle the number of people who a happy to shell out ?350+ on suspension but then reel in horror at the thought of spending ?75 on alignment!

yup gotta say when it comes to the setup its worth paying to have it done properly !

Yup Fensport are around that price but that?s ex vat and P&P, so a full set is close to ?275! Or can have the same thing from Twosrus.com for ?140 (plus shipping.) For Fensport?s ?275 you might as well pay another ?60 and get a full set of Konis from Twosrus! Though you?ll still have to ship them of course, but they do plugs for the GTE at ?8 a set,or a fidenza fly for ?190 and many other goodies so you?ll soon make it back.

    Cheers,

    Owen.
