painted headlight surrounds. How do they look?

I painted up a spare set of headlight frameson my 88 to see how it would look. To me, the headlights stand out a little much with the surrounds painted. Tell me what you think
I included a shot of my 86 with unpainted surrounds for comparision.

I like them but would need to see them in person to get a good perspective. I have painted mine a high gloss black and like the glossy look.

i have to admit that the popups are one of the few things that im not too keen on on a mk1..
painting them body colour like this imho is a definate improvement, providing they match pretty near exactly the body colour..but then i only have my lights up when its dark, so i dont see them anyway..
its subtle and nice looking if you ask me..

im up fer it.. my ones are rusty on the sides in places.. defo could do with a lick of paint.. nice modern upgrade
