Is it being tested for the correct year of car or engine. Ie a non cat test?

So your car is a 1997? Do you mean you got the engine from a H reg MR2? I meant what was the original donor car (assuming it's a Camry).
If it's a 3vz the engine came out of a car 1991 - 1993 ish, so it should be MOT'd as a if it was pre 95 which is a no cat test.

Yep i told them that but they say they need proof of the age of Engine.
Well it's not like it came in the car, and any mechanic could tell you it's not a modern engine.
Do you have any documentation from the original donor?
And if not would you like a copy of one? I may have a couple. The engine block won't match of they check (obviously) but you could always say it was rebuilt.
