General gearbox query’s and drag strip advice

Hi people so with summer on the way time to get the car out, i have a 93 uk with 1mz vvti, converted at woodsport with lsd and extended 5th. Little deuce coupe, the car is known here.

Firstly i think i have the s54 transmission but may be wrong (picture attached) as I believe the e153 has a little external pipe and mine doesn’t.

Firstly will my gearbox take launches on a drag strip?

Secondly i have a noisy release bearing, hard clutch pedal and clutch slip when pulling off hard in first. So its time For a clutch replacement, what is my best option?

I have been brought a rwyb day at santa pod so keen to get some decent times if its dry, if its wet il be taking the van[emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

    Thanks in advance.

Hi, the gearbox is an S54, but not recommended for drag strip use, they hold up fine for everyday driving and hard street driving, but if your intention is to drag this car you need to think about upgrading to the E153 which will mean different flywheel, clutch, driveshafts and hubs along with modifying one of your gear cables.

Clutch wise all depends on your useage, drag racing demands a very grippy clutch which will compromise it's everyday street use. Even a stock turbo clutch (although much better than the NA) will not hold up over time drag racing.
