Best way to get engine under car

Never done a MK1 but I put the crane in at the driveside wheel arch,strap around just the engine lifting mounts. It will more or less centre the weight. Then just lift it up until I can get a trolly jack and a block of wood under the gear box. Then its just a case of lift the engine with crane then back around and pump the trolly jack etc. Until I can get the gearbox mount on. Then remove the trolly jack and use just the crane to get the engine mount lined up. Once thats on its easy enough to get the dront and rear gearbox mounts on using the trolly jack. Sorry if its a bit long winded but works great for me on my MK2

Hi,

I found that attempting the engine mount first, actually brought the gearbox mount almost into its desired location almost instantly!

I got the engine mount in with a jack under the sump and now just have to fully line up the gearbox mount.

Just connecting everything else up now 
