Thread: revs cut at 5700

    IIRC on a 1MZ (non vvti) max torque (around 220 foot/pounds) comes at around 4400 rpm and max rpm is around 5800 rpm.
    V6 is nothing like a vtec, you need to rev a vtec over 5000 rpm to get any torque, V6 is the opposite, you get much ft/lbs from low (1500?) rpm.
    Find a couple of dyno charts and compare a vtec with a 1MZ V6 the difference will be obvious

    im not sure how accurate these figures are as the engine started knocking a week or two after these were taken.

    ok thanks guys .. so 5700 is fine jsut have to adjust my shifting to suit ...
    still love this car ... took my v6 vectra gsi out yesterday for a run (or should i say a WALK ) wow what a diff compared to mr2 ....
