1MZ VVTi air intake budget soloution

I REALLY wanted one of Woodsport's lovely intakes for the dual throttle body VVTi 1MZ.
Paul indicated early on that it was not available to non Woodsport builds.( I see that's changed)
So I prowled the internet for an off the shelf solution.
What I came up with cost a little less than $150 USD but get's the job done without looking too dodgy.
My US spec 1MZ uses the large MAF so the intake tube works a treat.
I tried my best to load pics but the loader just wont do it.
I have to say that the quality is quite good on these I shortened one leg on the Y pipe and the elbows are 2,5" to 2" reducers so it works out nicely.

couldn't get but the tiniest of pics to upload

    That's pretty cool.

I've actually used the stock airbox assembly a couple of times, modified slightly, but that looks a great way to go.

    More pics please!

    :)

Nice budget solution there, it's a shame about the bottleneck where it narrows just at the Y merge but other than that well done.

Quite surprised Toyota used the Camry style MAF on USDM Rx300 engines too!

Restriction is pretty minimal in the Y pipe (it's got to get smaller somewhere) I was surprised to see it knife edge sharp at the merge inside and very clean weld wise.
you are correct I need to change to the late style MAF

Ideally it needs to stay the same diameter all the way to the merge, probably won't matter too much though.

I have since researched and found that I need the round late style MAF so I have changed to the Specter tune-able MAF tube. It features plastic inserts of varying diameters to help with fuel trim.(we'll see about that)
Started it up yesterday seems good. no time to fiddle with it have to leave on a trip should have more time later in Feb.
more pics added with engine installed routing couldn't be better with no need to relocate the relay box and air filter residing nicely in the side vent.
Also 3 quart (yes we still use quarts, I blame Trump) accumulator mounted in the rear boot with remote filter and cooler in the right vent passage.

Holy crap, I'm loving your Flickr pics, if that's examples of your work then I'm pretty impressed.

V6 is looking just great, I like the colour scheme too.
