Home Project 1MZ-FE VVTi Conversion

I've just decided to do another home DIY V6 conversion after my success with the last one finished two years ago (still got the Rev3 GLimited in the garage). Time on my hands! The last one was a non VVTi 1MZ. I've got a 2001 Lexus RX300 being delivered tomorrow with just 86K on the clock to be used for the donor engine. Is there any appetite for a build thread out there? This swap is a bit old hat now as its been done a few times (Woodsport being the biggest of course). Happy to document if there is interest out there......

Hi Nigel,

Hell yeah, rip that engine out and lets have lots of pics along the way, they are quite interesting to remove compared to the 1MZ. You will probably be in tears though, those cars are gorgeous. I'm actually looking for one for a daily driver, the wife hates the Cammy so much she has ordered me to kill it and buy an RX300. Women eh? ;)

Ok figured the picture bit out. The engine! Will sort out some better initial pictures when the car arrives tomorrow.

Good to see a build thread Nigel, I will be supplying Nigel with most of the parts needed and doing his wiring harness for him which will be taking a lot of the pain out of the install.

OK...I need some help....

When you pull the motor, I need dimension's off the front hubs...will draw a little picture with the ones I need

As they are heavier than a sw, it may be the upgrade I need to get legal

Just a couple more pics of the engine bay in the RX300. Plan to run some fresh oil through the engine before starting to take things apart to get the engine out. Crowded bay so should be interesting! Not likely to get started till next week as my eldest daughter is getting married on Saturday.
