Brake pipe tip - getting them straight

Been helping my friend repipe his car this weekend, so thought I'd share this little tip with you for getting your brake pipes nice and straight.

He was on the verge of buying one of these as a lot of the runs are inside the car and visible, so he wanted nice straight pipe.

"Fear not" said I, "for am I a tight northern bugger"

Cut your pipe six inches longer than it needs to be.
Grip one end in a vice. Grip the other end with vice grips.

Now give the vice grips a bash with a hammer, et voila. one straight pipe.

Trim off your crimped ends, flare and bend as needed.

If anyone feels the need to donate their saved £40 to club, feel free!
I hate all southerners. As a point of reference, I'm stood at the north pole.

Wow. Fantastic idea with great timing. Thanks for the tip! I am just about to start the brake lines on the Junkerati- erm, Maserusty- um BiTURDo whatever.
But I bet you that comes in handy with the brake lines.

or just drill a hole the size of pipe in a piece of 2x2 wood and pull the pipe through it

Another great tip. I just roll it out on a smooth flat surface and get them pretty darn straight. Copper tubing comes in roll sizes from 1/4" up to 2" and we've been rolling it out for years on the concrete, but brake lines are different because they're more rigid.
If there's a section that needs to be straight, I'll do these tips.

    I like helpful hints. :)
