Damn, that sucks. What about that Princess thing?

I love the Lada Niva truck-car- thing.

I would have one, if I could find one cheap. Replace it all with Toyota Rav4 gubbins or even Jeep stuff.

This is cool, no matter where you live, I think.

    Others for possible consideration:

This is tough, finding the right car. One that's different & original "ish". One day, the money will be sitting there and the car will show itself and the timing will be right. The moon and stars will align and you'll know. In the meantime, I'll offer up stuff I didn't really think of when I had the same decision.

I had a viva(well 3 actually) and an Austin princess(first car...my dad wrote it off for me, "true story, bro!")

I know a group of guys who wanted to do the globchev(the lada niva, tubbed with a big chev 8....)

I wanted to do the estima/emina people mover....false lid at the window line, with the top of the seats stuck to it to look almost normal(add the curtains for extra bling...SORTED!
of course I dont care, your a muppet!!!

A strange shout here, but what about an RX8? They are modern, funky and very very cheap, £400 gets you a gorgeous one with a knackered engine...... they are rear wheel drive already, could be a super cool project ramming a 1uz into one.

Yeah, we were having g that conversation the other day strangely enough. People are tossing them aside and the condition / trim level is insanely good.

The only thing that let's the car down is the wanky engine, which is quite handy.

    :)

Then you can piss of the wanky crowd with Toyota reliable power lol

I do work for Dyno Torque and we are doing RX8's with LS engine in them. Throttle by wire and can bus integration is the kicker. We run ECU Master EMU ecu's on them as it ticks all the boxes. It's tight but we retain all the stock engine bay parts and it looks like stock. You can see where I got the influence for Red Bird. :-) Two of them will run rear mounter turbo's.

Yeah, there's a few RX8's with 1UZ's in them, whilst it would be lovely to ber the first to do something whacky, there is value in following a documented path, like we do with the V6's.

I suspect my build will be much less extravagant whatever i fit it into; i just want it in something and running, the rest is post-build dev if at all!

    :)

I didn't realize others had done the 1uz Rx8 swap, or at least attempted it.......scratch that, it needs to be a first time unique build....um TR7! Show that Grenade fella how us Brits roll :)

I originally bought a TR7 to put this engine into. Great choice. Trouble was, you'll need a rear sump for sure. The one I bought had too much rust & filler, so made it look better than it was & I kicked it loose.

An RX8 is something that would be really nice to drive and sit in for sure. The TR7 with that 1UZ, would be a MONSTER. That car was so light. Whatever you end up with, would be best suited if it's cheap, light, solid and two doors if possible.
