I used 40 ratio but 30/35 are what I will probably look at fitting next, I have 215x40 17 on the front at the moment but there like 1mm from the spring platform.
I do think 16 are the best size rim for a mk1 to have a nice tyre wall ratio

thanks all. have ordered some 225/40R16 to get me through the next few months until toyo have completed the back order on the 245/35R16s
