Turbo suggestions... supra CT-26 w/ 60-1 compressor wheel

    Hi everyone,

As I begin piecing together all the bits for this beast, I've come across an inexpensive upgrade from my buddie's mk3 supra:

    a ct26 w/ 60-1 compressor wheel!

My goals for the 1.5 are 2500 lbs and 350 wheel horsepower on 93 octane pump gasoline w/ an option for high boost and race gas. I'd imagine this turbo might be a bit laggy, but with some 272 cams & good valvesprings it should have at least 3k rpms of usable top-end.
My only tuning device will be an AFC and an ecu remap.

Does anyone here have experience w/ this setup or any other hybrid CT26 variant? Do CT26 hybrids produce good results? I wanna keep the car as Toyota as possible:icon_surp

AFAIK noone has ever reached 300whp with a ct26 on a 3sgte. I think you might find that compressor is far too big for the 3sgte also, using a supra turbo (including exhaust housing) with a smaller wheel, like perhaps a 52trim t04e might get you over the 300whp mark.

As Welly says, I'm using the CT26A compressor and CT26 exhaust on my 1.5; it is a little laggy compared to the standard CT26 or the CT20B... I'm making boost at 3krpm, but it's a much harder hit than the CT26 and it keeps pushing all the way to the redline.

I'm running 13-14psi at the moment and the car is plenty quick - roughly the same as my Supra TT; I plan to up the boost to around 16psi and fit a piggyback ecu (Unichip) shortly.

John, have you thought about fitting your turbo with the original supra single entry exhaust housing? If you port out the collector on the exhaust manifold to suit the round entrance the the exhaust housing, you end up with a set up that is a lot less restricted on the exhaust side, due to the larger area for flow in the Supra housing. Contrary to popular belief the Supra housing does fit straight on to the twin entry manifold, the main hassles being that you'd need to change the flange on the downpipe and possibly use an ST165 wastegate actuator

I may have a look at doing that - preferably before I get the Unichip fitted and mapped as I suspect it will make quite a difference.

Though it may be best to get a spare 3SGTE exhaust manifold to do it with. The biggest problem would be the downpipe - it would be a fair bit of money down the drain if I hacked it to make it fit the Supra flange; it cost £170!

buy one of the cheap XS power ones and modify that, then you can put the expensive one in a display case in your lounge :)
