just a little update,as the rest of the suspension was polybushed, I did the front suspension as well, now all polybushed with new ball joints.
-
Glad it went through MOT well. At first MOT after conversion emissions were high but tester was able to help out there! After that I did airflow meter mod to bring the fuelling down a tad which corrected the emissions nicely. In early days car ran hot on motorways but once I moved number plate away from radiator intake it was always fine. Even with one fan it only came on occasionally, even when sat in traffic on hot day.
Most importantly are you enjoying it?
-
yes JB,the car runs at the middle of the temp gauge under all driving, conditions, the fan only came at the mot test,i did the bits of paintwork that needed doing, polybushing the front end made a difference, much better than stock, hope you are enjoying your new ride, regards paul.

Thanks for pics Paul it does look nice. The wheels were chosen to fit over Willwood calipers but they suit the car very well. Do let me know if you are ever in Manchester area.

little update on this car, when I got the car from alan he told me it was a little slow to start in the morning of pickup,so I put mr2 turbo starter on and increased the size of the earth strap as it was tiny, always started first time ever since, until the cold weather starts, then when you turn the key nothing for a few seconds the it starts as normal and starts all day as normal after that, come warm days starts straight away, back to cold days slight delay again so temp related,,so on a cold day heats any suspect area up with a hair dryer, and it turns out to be the sigma alarm, so today removed that all is well car now starts first time in the cold without the delay, also orded a set of koni top adjustable shocks for the car, it has KYBs on at the moment.
-
removed the kyb shocks only done 2,000 miles, konis fitted set up full on rear, well 2 clicks off on pass side rear as less weight on that side, fronts had small amount cut from springs as front always looked a little high, front set at just over three quarters firm adjustment, took it out this morning, ground still wet but quite a transformation, ride firm but not hard, rear always had a bit of lack of feel but now it handles lots better you can tell exactly what the back end is doing, I pushed it really hard around a couple of roundabouts, I would say the konis have been a good buy.--the old kyb shocks have been recycled onto a friends mk1 ,he has the next garage to mine.,

now owned this car for a year now, that's a long time for me, bought a front strut brace for the car,now painted and fitted, fitted a pair of rear tyres the old ones were yokohama 205/45/16, replaced them with yokohama advan neova 215/45/16, rare tyre has oil of orange in its compound, unlike oranges they don't grow on trees these had to be scourced from Italy, also made a false boot floor for the front to cover he battery(that's where it lives),my old problem of slight delay in starting in cold weather came back, thought I had cured this by removing the alarms,it had two,one under the dash and another behind the passenger seat, only happened on first start when really cold weather, slight delay then start ,every start after that ok,suspected the ignition switch, took it off tested with multimeter all ok,put a bit heat on it with a hairdryer on cold day starts first time ,so replaced switch and pleased to say starts first time on cold days, not a real problem just annoying.

just to keep this story rolling, changed one of the shift cables as the dust boot was detatched, changed oil again, rewaxoiled underneath, painted both rear arches as paint was flaking, when cleaned off found nice clean metal(original unwelded) repainted both arches and a little bit on the edge of the passenger door edge, that's about it nothing else to report.
