    Speedo drive

It's a mechanical e153 mk2 mr2 rev1 speedo drive you need in a mk1 mate you can take it apart most likely it's the shaft inside that's broken or has your plastic cog disintegrated which is a common fault.

If it's going like a metronome we have seen the plastic drive inside the gearbox that meshes with the speedo drive with missing teeth.

The mk2 rev2 onwards were electrical speedo senders.

all mk1 mr2 are mechanical but seeing as you have a mk2 turbo engine and turbo box you will need the rev 1 mechanical speedo drive, there normaly about 50 quid from a breakers but Toyota will no doubt want an arm leg and kidney also on there microfiche there were 5 options last time I looked.
