I'm seriously tempted by the LS400, that engine would be a monster in a Mk2.
To my knowledge nobody has done it yet. The engine gets put into supras a lot.
There is one Mk1 with that engine in, but its had some structural work. Mr Woods says there's less space between the turrets on a mk2 than there is on a Mk1.

no chance that'll fit transversely without a tube frame rear, the adapter plate i had made to fit 1uz onto E153 will cost you over £1500 alone. Mounting inline will still mean an adapter plus chassis stretch, you'd be better off with Audi v8 in that case.
