    Icon5 3vzfe cam & Engine Specs & Questions

Sorry if this is redundant post, but I have been searching for a few hours and I haven't found this information yet. I am specifically trying to find the Lobe Center angle and degreed centerline for both the intake and exhaust.

This is the information I have collected already. Hopefully its all right. If you have any other data that you want to contribute I would appreciate it. I am putting together a database of all the suspension and 3vzfe engine data for a 91 MR2.

    Engine Data
    Displacement: 3.0L
    Firing Order: 1-2-3-4-5-6
    # of cams: 4
    Bore: 87.5 mm
    Stroke: 82 mm
    Comp. Ratio 9.6:1
    Rod Length Ratio: 1.8:1
    Rod Length: 147.6 mm
    Peak HP RPM: 5200 rpm
    Crank Pins: 55 mm
    Main Journals: 64 mm

    Cam Data
    Overlap: 12 Degrees
    Valve Spring Length: 41.4 mm
    Valve Spring Tension: 41.9 - 46.3 lb/ft
Valve Spring Tension (Nose): 95 lb/ft
    Valve Spring Rate: 154.7 lb/ft

    Intake Cam Data:
    # Valves 2/cyl
    Duration: 230 Degrees
Valve Head Dia. : 34 mm
    Valve Stem Dia.: 6 mm
    Lift: 7.85 mm
    Degree Centerline: ???
    Lobe Center Angle: ???
    Lobe Height: 42.1 mm

    Exhaust Cam Data:
    Duration: 230 Degrees
    # Valves 2/cyl
Valve Head Dia. : 34 mm
    Valve Stem Dia.: 6 mm
    Lift: 7.6 mm
    Degree Centerline: ????
    Lobe Center Angle: ????
    Lobe Height: 41.01 mm

    Thanks!

Thanks Paul, I am glad I can contribute to the community.

If anyone else has engine data for 1mz 3gr or whatever, then we can build this thread up as a good engine spec resource.

    Thanks,
    Matt

Which ones do you have? I have the 93 Lexus ES300 one and it didn't have very specific data in regards to cam specs.

    Thanks,
    Matt

Some other useful information from Toyota PDFs:

    1MZ-FE, all
    Cam duration: 228/228, 236/236 (VVT-i)
    Intake valve diameter: 34.0 mm
    Exhaust valve diameter: 27.3 mm
    Intake valve lift: 7.85 mm
    Exhaust valve lift: 7.60 mm
    Valve stem diameter: 5.5 mm

Most is the same as the previous 3VZ-FE.

    2JZ-GE
    Cam duration: 233/236
    Intake valve diameter: 33.5 mm
    Exhaust valve diameter: 29.0 mm
    Intake valve lift: 8.26 mm
    Exhaust valve lift: 8.41 mm
    Valve stem diameter: Not listed

So, unfortunately, 2JZ-GE intake valves are NOT an upgrade in size but they are treated with anti-wear coatings that the 1MZ lacks; the exhaust valves are 1.7mm larger, however. The GTE has slightly reduced valve lift.

Now we know why the two are so close in performance, despite the obvious camshaft duration/lift handicap of the 1MZ. The smaller exhaust valves also mean that the 1MZ is sensitive to exhaust setup, so any improvements in flow provide pretty decent gains as seen by the y-pipe modification and headers.

    3UZ-FE
    Intake valve diameter: 34.5 mm
    Exhaust valve diameter: 29.0 mm
    Intake valve lift: 8.3 mm
    Exhaust valve lift: 8.27 mm
Overall intake valve length: 95.05 mm
Overall exhaust valve length: 95.10 mm
    Valve stem diameter: 5.5 mm

Intake cam lobe width: 12.0 mm
Exhaust cam lobe width: 12.0 mm

    Valve spring:
    Coil inner diameter: 18.0 mm
    Wire diameter: 2.9 mm

Looks like the 3UZ uses 1mm OS intake valves compared to the 2JZGE and 0.5mm over the 1MZ.

    2GR-FE/FSE
    Intake valve diameter: 38.0 mm
    Exhaust valve diameter: 32.0 mm
    Intake valve lift: 10.9 mm
    Exhaust valve lift: 10.7 mm
Overall intake valve length: 105.85 mm
Overall exhaust valve lenth: 110.4 mm
    Valve stem diameter: 5.5 mm

Intake cam lobe width: 15.35 mm
Exhaust cam lobe width: 14.10 mm

    Valve spring:
    Wire diameter: 3.3 mm
    Coil inner diameter: 18.0 +/- 0.2 mm
    Free length: 51.7 mm

Now, you see why the 2GR (either one) is such a hot-rod motor. Amazing how much valve lift and diameter these engines use.

(I have the official Toyota PDFs with this information though Toyota tends to scatter it about, so it took some time to find. I'll make them available to anyone who requests them. The 3UZ and 2GRFSE PDFs also have crank, rod, and piston specs.)

Im not sure what the performance gains would be gained from this profile but its the information they provided me. :)
