ot sure if it's your kettle of fish, but to be different with a Mk3 I'd consider a D4D Turbo diesel conversion. Masses of torque, decent HP, 6 speed (I think) and probably 60mpg+ all in a car less than 1 tonne will make for a pretty fast economical machine.

Failing that maybe one of the new generation of GM V6's? They are readily available your neck of the woods and ripe for aftermarket tuning and support.

I know I want to put the 3S-GTE from my MK2 into my MR-S. Just depends if it would be cheaper to replace the 2zz-ge block (small crack from CV-Joint exploding) and turbo that, or do the swap. Something about adding 100 ft-lbs of torque and 45 hp to the wheels make the swap pretty desirable.

My 2zz-ge put down 155 whp and 128 wtq on the same dyno my Gen 2 3S-GTE made 198 wtq 194 whp, An 08 STI, stock, made 214/214 on the same dyno.
