Thread: D-pegs V6 Scion supercharger kit

Yep added a crank sensor - basically a 5vz oil pump is a direct fit then you need to fudge up the oil feed pipe. You also need a 5vz crank pulley too... (I ask myself why i didn't just switch to a 5vz sometimes lol!)

As far as i am aware, you need a crank pos sensor to run COP with most, if not all ECU's. The cam pos sensor is (i think) optional. I've added it purely because it is easier to do it now than later.

I'll have to check what MAF I am using, It's one recommended to me by JimGTS (as used on his 400hp 3sgte) because it's fast acting and was only £30 with connector i think... ?

To run the COP sequential, you need cam position. If running Wasted Spark you need only Crank position, same for sequential injection.
Didn't understand why the 5vz oil pump/5vz crank pulley? Me would prefer a MAP above MAF, but only my personal opinion ;)

    Any details on crank sensor?

Strange??? The 1mz is wasted spark but has a cam sensor...?? Who knows eh!

BOTH cam and crank sensors i have used are 5vz items. But for the cam i modified the back timing belt cover and added a pickup to the rear bank pulley too.

Michael; MAP vs MAF i have no idea. I just want to have the time to get it finished!

Some research, both 1mz, 3vzfe use sequential fuel injection http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/10...-gas-myth.html
So the need cam sensor, because only on crank sensr the EMS didn't know it must inject Bank 1 or 2.

Are the 3vz sensor crap or why 5vz?
Yes get it finished, thats prio 1 :) Which EMS would you use?

The 3VZ has no cam sensor - only what is integral to the distributor.
I could have quite happily left the distributor in place, ditched the cap, blanked it off and used that as my cam sensor but it's such an ugly lump hanging off the engine like a facial wart i decided it had to go! :)

EMS ... Am in two minds at the moment.
I have a Hydra Nemesis here to use (it has an evo8 harness but can adapt no problems)

    BUT

I also have a Link G4 Xtreme (which i have bought for my 4.3l v8 project)..... Now, buy two more harness adapters and use the G4 with a different map maybe??

Great information here guys. I have thought about going the 5vz but then you have a much lower power band....but then again that may work better with the V5F trd Supercharger? who knows...

I like the 3vzfe and will do what need to be done to make it work. The SC fitting is an added bonus of not having to build manifolds , dp, y pipes etc for a turbo.

What would just leaving the distributor on all together(to save $) and not going COP limit me too?

Also I would go map as well... technically it should be easier, and will save you from having to do maf calibrations. I run blow through maf on my ms6 vs draw through and even that is BETTER.... just running map would be even smoother. But as you said at this point you just want it running and i dont blame you, plus a maf will work fantastic with the setup, just might be easier to tune with map. I was thinking running msII with their boost package due to it including the map.

I have found a lot of information on that TRD unit and with the right parts (9psi-11psi plus intercooled) the efficiency is spot on for the 3vzfe. Plus what ever the scion TC motor can take the iron beast can take twice as much :)

this thread seems to be dying off we need to bring it back !! the 3vzfe needs its scion kit if there anything i can do to help just let me know !

I feel the same way, I am hoping to try and mock up a mount on a spare engine I have lying around and try to get mine fitted early next year, might even look to get the pulley end mount cnc machined as mine was missing part of the bracket,. that way it would be a custom fit for the 3vz

Also do not get a false sense of security with the 3vz iron block, its head gaskets are a weak point so you would need to upgrade to either MLS or Ferriday bi-metal with ARP Studs and at least ceramic coat the pistons for a bit more durability, check my build thread for what I did to get my block ready for boost

Oh I plan on changing the head gaskets, and the studs and coating the pistons :) here is my build list....you basically touched on many of my build https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/...DTVN5WXc#gid=0 ..... Im very interested in the TRD TC SC kit. Ill be starting my motor build soon and scavanging parts for the TRD SC. I think its the perfect kit for the 3vzfe. Paired with a custom short runner intake manifold i think the power band will expand and will be a very efficient low heat way of getting 300 hp. From what i have read its important to be able to get the blower to 11psi which is more in its power efficiency sweet spot, which should produce 300 hp easy on a properly prepped motor.

Dan bought the Supercharger over last night; this is where it is going to sit.

The business end of the Supercharger rotates and there will be just enough room under the engine cover to fit it.

As soon as we put it on top of the engine I think Dan and I both smiled, we could see the final phase coming to life :D :D :D

any link to this build on mr2oc i have search for it everywhere and i would be interested to see how far it went. thanks!

Also just an fyi if anyone needs any solid works or cad data drawn up to help them with their builds i offer my skills, just shoot me a PM with a link to your 2d hand sketches and i can turn them into files to send to a cnc specialist or shop. And on the inverse of this if anyone has an cad data for the 3vz or 1mz engine i would gladly take it to start working on brackets myself. :)
