Project MrBusa (Toyota MR-S / Hayabusa)

Not sure where my old thread went, so here is the brief update version.

Bought a cheap MR-S as a donor car (we also bought a real tidy one to make the body moulds off)

    & stripped it out

right out (like every possible nut & bolt

then we cut some holes for the new engine

Meantime we were getting moulds & panels made

made moulds & articles off all the panels (bumpers front& rear guards, doors, bonnet, boot & hardtop)

Meanwhile, engine wise, we were converting this

    into this

And with Carillo rods, JE Pistons & a whole load of other goodies from APE raceparts in USA, we are aiming for 400hp from the Suzuki Hayabusa Turbo engine.

    to go in here

then add in a roll cage

    a very comprehensive one

and a quick mock up of body panels to weigh the car. Bodyshell incl. rollcage, most panels, engine, gearbox, diff, seat & controls, suspension arms, shocks etc = 416kg (still needs wheels, brakes & all plumbing etc etc)

Finally about a year down the track it finally sits on its own wheels & suspension for the first time

Then another mock-up with its bodypanels including BA Falcon V8 Supercar front splitter etc

More enthusiasm is generated as it gets closer & closer to being finished, so I will try to keep the thread updated regularly....

    Holy......

that's some awesome work there..... I really like what you've done with the diff to transfer drive from the bike engine and box to the rear :) And I really like the rest of it too lol
    It's a 2.0 inline four that thinks it's a viper v10. What's not to love?

Well that certainly fits into the brutal category

Is it going to be road legal, or purely a track toy?

Awesome, simply awesome. What power and weight are you looking to get?

    Hi guys,

Thx for your comments, here is the answers to a few questions.

Yes just a track car at this stage as we want to get the best power to weight ratio possible & by the time you get lights, indicators, wiring, handbrake etc etc its just too much extra weight to carry.

We are looking for around 400hp & about 600kg, so it should be pretty awesome.

Yes keeping the sequential shift & bike gearbox. Have lots of gearbox goodies from APE for the gearbox to handle the extra hp & weight of the car...
