Thread: My Mk3 Roadster 3SGTE Build

  1. #111
One minor update, it seem using the mk3 cables is not without its problems.
The gearbox end of the cable is too long between the mounting point and the end. This prevents gear selection, I will hopefully fab up a new mounting bracket in the position shown below at the weekend and with luck have functioning gears.

Gear linkage is now nearly complete, will post some pics next week.

Next job to look at is the water pipes. First I had to work out what pipe goes where. Note that the MK3 does not have a heater return line in the engine bay (it joins the main return line in the front of the car)

Not an update as such (although I have bought a new reg plate from the dvla )

List of jobs still to do (in no particular order)

    1. finish gear linkage
    2. fit water pipes, filler, expansion tank
    3. clutch line
    4. replace brake line that i hit with the grinder OOOPS!
    5. chargecooler install
    6. purchase and fit the exhaust system
    7. paint engine bay
    8. paint engine
    9. purchase and fit a new high capacity radiator
    10. purchase and fit new fuel pump/hoses
    11. sort out a suitable turbo inlet pipe/filter
    12. wiring
    13. relocate battery
    14. throttle cable
    15. mount aircon pump
    16. make a new alternator tensioner

As you can see, still plenty to keep me busy. I have probably missed off a few things too.
