Thread: Upgraded wheel size ?

Admin Edit: This thread has been extracted from Paul W's build thread to keep things tidy

    Paul,
any thoughts on tyre size, I'm looking at 205 and 225's by 17, although I may look at 235's if possible, but I think either 225 or 235's still wont be able to handle full throttle, so I'm not really sure what I'm on about !

    Upgraded wheel size ?

I guess I could put it into a spreadsheet that I'm working on at the moment.

Ok, get me the weight distribution of your car :)

I'll get it on the scales asap, I know standard it should be somthing like this with an average 13st driver

    RF 524lbs
    LF 483lbs
    RR 703lbs
    LR 660lbs

Interesting, what are the wheel specs? i.e. offset, width etc.
    Any rubbing issues?

Offset is +45 or +50, can't remember exactly, width is 8". No rubbing issues on the rears, but the corresponding fronts (7.5x17 with 205/40s) did have to have a small amount of treatment to the arch liners with a heat gun. Never had an issue with them.

What's the stock wheel sizes on the Mk3?
There's a new file in downloads that might help :P

IIRC stock at 195 x 50 x 15's on the front and 215's on the back, thats for the older model, hopefully Nigel can dovetail in with the post 2003 spec. I think standard offset is +38.
This a quite a handy comparison tool

Just had a look at this, excelent bit of work
Its a bit like the one I did only 1000 times better, particularly like the graphical representation of the wheels.
