My OBX LSD ZZW30 arrived today



And then I pulled it apart

The unit looks fairly good, the bolts were good (12.9's, none stripped or too short), though I found both the bellville washers installed with no preload and I found the gears were in the wrong direction (I think :P). I'll be cleaning the rough machine marks up and replacing the bellville washers before assembling for installation. Will post more information on this as I progress :)

Just to confirm I actually picked up the correct unit (hard to say when the box and LSD have no part numbers).

S54 drift shaft fits in perfect, just need a rubber mallet to knock the shaft in pass the pop clips.

So if this is a quaife knock off for a mk3.. Then the quaife one for the mk3 should also fit into the s54?

Well the bearings and crown wheel went onto the OBX MK3 LSD without any hitches.


Just need to finish putting the rest of the gearbox back together and see how it goes.

I also brought myselve a OBX LSD for the ZZW30.
Also going to check and rebuild the unit to make sure it's assembled correctly.

Maybe you could make like a photo log of how you got the LSD and what you did about to get it right?

When i'm done with the grinder and glass bead blasting i'le let you know over here.
I'le post some pics and info about what i did with the LSD before i put it in the gearbox and share my experience.
