intercooler question

im going to be fitting a mk2 aftermarket intercooler to the sc.
my question is, should i use a 2" or 4" core?
the 4" would provide better cooling however, would i be right in thinking that i would lose boost due to the larger area?
on balance which would be the better option?

Depends on the losses and gains in power to the heat dissipated by the smaller core mate. Larger core more heat dissipation smaller core less lag but not as good as the larger one at getting the charge cooler.
