    Auto to Manual Conversion

    Hi all:)

Not exactly a Ground breaking swap i know but i need a little help and a question answerd

I have found a cheap(for down here) mk1a mr2(mk1a's are hens teeth) but the only problem is its an auto at the moment.
But ive also come across an E51 box for sale aswell.

So how hard is it to Change an mk1 Auto to a manual and what parts would i need to gather other then a gear box?

    Thanks:thumbsup:

    I'll start a list:

    Pedals
    All hydrolics related to clutch,
pipework going from front to back
Gear lever assembly - cables, brackets.
    Would the clocks need changing?

    Also driveshafts probably.

Clutch, flywheel, and clutch slave cylinder.

Does anyone know anyone (Ie. Twos R us?) that does all the clutch system parts Like the Hydrolics and cylinders?

    And the Gear lever assembly?

I can grab a Flywheel and Clutch From the guy selling the box:)

    What about the ECU?

It would be better to find a breaker in a scrap yard or someone breaking a car. That way you should get the bits cheaply.

There are less then 900 mr2s in Australia. Its a cohunt trying to find them at a scrap yard or someone breaking one all that often.

So it looks like its probably going to be easyer finding them from new incase i cant hunt them down from someone breaking one

you are probably going to need to change the engine harness and ecu as well, and probably the body harness for the manual clocks, not sure they are interchangeable onto the same harness.

    So the list would be

    Pedals
All hydrolics related to clutch. (Master, Slave, other stuff)
pipework going from front to back
Gear lever assembly - cables, brackets
    Manual Clock harness
    Engine harness + ECU
Drive shafts(could come with the manual box)

Any more guys? Thanks so far:)

Also is it going to be a **** of a job?

I have a feeling you don't need the manual harness or ECU, I think you can bridge two wires to remove then engine start whilst in "park" prohibit and that's it. It's just a vague memory though of something I once read so best to keep researching.

For sure it's a fairly involved job, but using bolt together bits, so no fabrication required. Others have done the swap so the info is out there somewhere.

Or there are the aforementioned flappy paddles on the horizon. A lot less agro to install and a fairly unique vehicle at the end.
