Aye, gotta watch that timing belt tooth issue, must be another changeover item, like the later style gearboxes.

sounds like progress is allright, the obstacles were sent to try us.
dont worry too much about the loom, dont cut any of it, its only actually the bit that hangs on to the engine is what you need.

the complete loom in the back with lighting etc is well confusing lol , you should be abled to seperate that bit off. your basicaly looking for all the connections in the engine bay to be made, extending the existing alternator harness, and plugging in the ecu to the other end of the harness, wiring in the third ecu plug. connecting into your existing mk1 signal wires on the N1, theres alot of extra tat in a standard turbo loom.
gis a shout when you get that far

good show  , now the fiddly bit / inserting 3s/fiddling to perfect position & height., jig?..... thats a northern sex dance right? lol .

tip for alignment, the old master (M.bater) used to say the engine drops about 10mm when its on its own weight finally, on the mounts and on the floor . we used to use the rear view method.... (no not that one), see the top of the supported shaft sits about level or upto 5mm lower then the lower crossmember , when looking on the the same plane. here and after dropped on floor: here
engine sits at least 15 degrees on the hilt here. space infront of turbo , was about 40mm, here , HTH. there, it should be in by tommorow right lol
