A10's Mr. Two build

Well, the time has come wherein everything i need is coming for my arthritic aw11 https://m.imgur.com/a/zvpwk to receive its 1mz-fe heart transplant, so i guess it's about time to start documenting my headaches, for fun and posterity.

Got an engine from a 94 Camry that was in a fender bender. Can't see much damage but the rad was mashed and power steering pump was leaking badly. Pulled the wiring out (as a whole cuz i wasn't sure what i was gonna need later) https://m.imgur.com/a/skfli

Kept the starter, fuel pump, alternator and all the cpu's and under glove box relays in a box waiting. Am i forgetting anything that needs keeping before the car gets scrapped?

Heard whispers these engines had a recall for sludge buildup so i plan on at the very least popping the valve covers off and checking that. Seems to be a strong runner tho when i drove it home (minus the racket from the power steering

Being a USDM 94 1mz it shouldn't have an immobilizer, but send me the ECU part number anyway and i will double check it, you don't want to be caught out by that, the immobilizer stuff needs to be taken from the car or it will never run again, but i'm 99.9% sure it doesn't have one.

Not sure if the 94 models had OBD2, look for the diagnostic port under the steering lower cowling, if it has one take the plug out with 6" of wire.

Make sure you got the chassis to ECU plug, it's not part of the engine harness. Three of your four ECU plugs are from the engine side, but one of the plugs comes from the cars chassis loom, make sure you got it with 6" of wire on it.

I'm starting to feel a tad over my head again. What am i missing on the inboard joint?? It has been disconnected as the shipper was worried it might've been worn on the inside.

After a bit of a hiatus I've torn down and replaced all the gaskets and seals on the 1mz. I've got a weird question about the cam installation, in both the manuals I have it says the right hand head should have the dual dots lined up on the cam gears

But when I do that the cam sprocket is 180 degrees out, facing upside down, but only on the right hand head, with the dual dot markers. Should I just disregard the markers on the gears and just rotate the one head by itself so that the cam sprocket is lined up with the markings on the timing belt cover? Are the single /double markings on the gears just for ease of installation when you're bolting the cams on?

Just for ease of cam installation, just make sure the cam gear dots align and worry about the belt end later.

Got the whole thing all together now, timed at 0, gave it a few extra rotations just to be sure haha. The lower tensioner belt did a weird thing I've never seen: the nut just sat in place and spun on the bolt, and yes I had a wrench on the back of it. I took the whole thing off before I bolted on the tensioner just to verify what was happening. The nut just spun in place like it had stripped threads in the oddest way and now won't tighten or loosen, so I just gave it some loctite on the exposed threads and assembled the rest of the timing. Any thoughts on deleting the egr? Spent a few hours scrubbing the filth out of the intake system, unfortunately I didn't take any before and after pics, but I did it on my old supra and it didn't seem to have any noticeable effect that I saw

Received a nice clutch from mr. Woods, unfortunately as it turns out, the LSD trans does not use quite the same clutch as the open one. Ended up finding a new LSD clutch online and using half of each to make a clutch that should interface ok.

Got the engine out of the mr2 over the last couple days, swapped in the new fuel pump, ended up getting a new one cuz the one I saved from the donor car sounded really rough when we tested it, and it had already been replaced at some point.

Is the oil cooler necessary to plumb into the 1mz?
