Mk2 gearbox stay

Evening, has anyone ran there v6 without the gearbox mount stay bar fitted?

The bit that looks like a droplink in the middle, removing an engine earlier and thought how much neater it looks without it so I was wondering how necessary it is?

Totally unnecessary, bin it along with the silly weights they put around the place too.
