http://www.twobrutal.co.uk/forum/images/recovered/2007/08/78.jpg

the rear tie rod bushes/bolts on this car refused to let go,we had to cut them out they were that seized,so new bushes will be needed...

yeah owen the lifts are amazing, its so simple when you arent on your back!

Richie the tie rod bush bolts were totally solid mate,we will need to replace these with new ones from toyota or good second hand ones or possibly even polybush them, plenty of time to work that out though.

Lots of pics to come

todays swapperage....

after pulling the engine out we had to inspect the hose from hell....and would you believe this one is intact! well i never....

http://www.twobrutal.co.uk/forum/images/recovered/2007/08/99.jpg

We have cleaned down the engine bay,it was a bit grimey in there, and fitted the coilpack....

http://www.twobrutal.co.uk/forum/images/recovered/2007/08/100.jpg

Also here is richies V6 before being stripped....

That's an interesting different colour. Will look superb once it's all together (looks superb already of course).

How come when you post pics of freshly painted parts there's never any paint on the backing paper?

Paul Woods
15-08-2007, 19:31

Also we are having a go at porting the heads ourselves on this one,i think we have done quite a respectable job,at least 2mm of material removed from the ports on both heads....

Thats a great idea Paul, is this going to be something you will offer other customers or a one off? Have you thought about offering some sort of suspension setup, nothing crazy but a basic alignment or something? I'd rather have woodsport do my alignment and know the car than the muppet that took 60 bucks off me for feck all. I ended up doing the camber and stuff myself there as I could see a difference with my eye!

*Rant and Hijack of thread over*

Paul Woods
20-08-2007, 19:19
yeah we can offer this headwork on them all now, maybe not as good as CTM with their flowbench but we are using a micrometer to check the same amount gets removed from each port.... plus we are doing it for a 3rd of the price.

I will be investing in wheel alignment gear shortly so its all done in house,i know what you mean mate.

Dammit, i was just a couple of conversions short of head porting. hehe.

damn it.. last one without head port.... lol

im still smiling thou!!

Paul Woods
21-08-2007, 07:46
no nigel we arent doing the valve seat cutting, theres no massive gains from that and it costs a fortune to do so we will settle for just opening the heads up.

Garbe
21-08-2007, 10:05
Nice work Paul - Are you going to get it on the RR ?

I need to take my heads off again and was considering having them ported. It was the cost of the valve job that put me off. So if i skip the valve job i should still see some pretty good gains?

Paul Woods
21-08-2007, 19:01
yeah you should see the most gain from the head porting, the valve seat job gain is negligible from what ive heard

Paul Woods
21-08-2007, 19:26
things are cracking on now,the engine got its new belt....

http://www.twobrutal.co.uk/forum/images/recovered/2007/08/154.jpg

I soooooo wish I had gone for the Fidanza! Still, there's plenty of time for things like that :) It just looks so good. Someone needs to come up with a transparent gearbox so it can be seen!

If you test this up and down the compound Paul, it should be interesting to see how you think your headwork compares on the road to the ones done before.
As always, love to see some vid clips.

Paul Woods
31-08-2007, 06:54
will do nigel,we are eager to see the benefits of our headwork too using the ass dyno.

Richie we still have stuff to do today, wiring to tidy up,front lip and engine lid to paint and then a few days roadtesting to make sure all is hunkey dorey,so id say she will be ready for pick up by around tuesday or wednesday at the latest matey.

Paul, out of interest, do you fit new oil & water pumps or paint up the old ones? Is the water pump run off the back of the cam belt on the 3VZ? :thk:

Jiff Lemon
04-09-2007, 09:58
Sure he does but yes, the water pump is run off the back of the belt on the big 6 :)

Paul Woods
04-09-2007, 10:48
we inspect the water pump and if its ok we re use it,if theres even a slight hint of freeplay it gets replaced.

Paul, when you were testing richie's car, how did you find the headwork felt on the butt dyno?

Paul Woods
06-09-2007, 06:52
hell yes, nice improvement over stock we felt...it just had that extra kick when the torque came in,definately worth doing.

LEAKIE TBAR
06-11-2007, 15:11
Paul I always thought that gas flowing and making the intake port larger reduced low end tourqe but increased to high range

snowtigger
06-11-2007, 18:12
all depends on the velocity of air if u are super charging its near enough instant hp all the way through the rev range. na depends on cams were the power band is .turbos are even of or on they depend on wether they are low compression engine with high lift cams and lightened fly wheels then they will rev higher and the power band will be higher and shorter up the rev range same with the torque unlike a v6 wich needs to breath and they have lots of low end torque i think thats right only suffering with flu so ignore it if im wrong

LEAKIE TBAR

no years of messing with a twin turbo rover v8 and a mate with a mk3 cortina with a super charged 7 litre hemi in it and my other mate had a vw beetle with a twin turbo porsche 3.3 litre in it so it was before the era of maxshower and the other cartoon mags with the girl friend renault 5 turbo showing my age now .

Hey Guys,

Loving your work Paul. I live in Australia and only wish i could have my car converted by Woodsport. however I will be doing it myself (except the head porting etc. which i will be getting a local motorsport house to do).

You are going to have a lot of fun in that thing. Awesome :D

Cheers
Ben
