funny hissing noise (not a snake)

got my car back from the garage last night. we ran it up and left it ticking over from a cold start over a pit to try and find the cause of an oil leak, then drove the car about 300m home.

engine temp read hot but not done a full warm up - i find it tends to warm up very quickly on the temp gauge.

turned the engine off and there was a loud hissing noise coming from the engine in the area of the throttle body. i checked the expansion tank and found the cap was off but i think this is a coincidence. there didn't appear to be anything dripping out but it was chucking it down so couldnt tell properly.

has anyone else experienced this?

hmm..not a hissing noise no..
with the engine off you say..? is that with the IG off too..? i can surely on ly be cooling system related with the IG off..!!?!??
i get a bubbling boiling noise from a water hose after i turn off..must be a bit of air in the system somewhere..

Is it repeatable? Hissing is normally air leaks.

havent tried it yet. not driving car too much as turbo not boosting up (broken shaft i think). will try it tonight if not raining.

Hey Ratty - mine makes a hissing noise from the inlet manifold too... Jiff you may recall - it still does that, and I can't work out where it's from??

Not sure if it's affecting performance, or whether it's an air-leak or something - but it's slightly annoying!! lol
