i have to change my turbo and was wondering if it is an easy job that can be done by an incompetant on a driveway with the engine in situ. havent had a good look at it yet but want to know what needs to be done.

cheers in advance

Yep - done it 3 times now... now it's not fun - but certainly no need for an engine drop!! There are a few b*stard bolts which you need some funky tools, or some funky bones in your wrist to get to (e.g. the 24(?)mm banjo bolt on the block for water outlet...) nasty one to get back on too...

Nah - it's easy enough mate - you'll be fine.

Ah! You sir are in Bedford...! I have a dodgy ankle at the moment, so look like Jimmy from South Park - but there's beer in my fridge!!

Get a new turbo gasket set, some bendable tools, patience and you`ll be all set i think. I`ve never done it on the car but shouldn`t be too hard though:)

Couldn't you just cut a big hole in the firewall to make life easier? Also if you take out the driver's seat and then bolt it back in facing backwards then you could even sit in comfort whilst changing your turbo...

Owen.

See, now I like where Owen's coming from - very comfy!! Don't forget to re-route your seatbelt though - you might fall forward while holding the turbo!!

Sorry to hijack the thread a little but where do I get the turbo exhaust gasket sets from???

I also need a exhaust manifold gasket are they all Mr T items. :)

Mr T do them individually strangely cheap! They're only a couple of quid or so each!! The set was pretty pricey mind - around £80 IIRC
