I need to purchace an air filter and after having a quick look on ebay these seem to be my options. I dont want the same one that fizzy had as they seem to fall apart. Are any of these worth having or can you recomend another one or place to get air filters from?

If you want to be sure of the quality then i wouldnt look at the ebay filters for 5 pounds.. Wy not Apexi/Green etc?? Its gonna cost more but there's loads of info on them, so know what you're paying for and with a bit of youtube/video.google searching you can even hear what they sound like:driving:

They all seem to be the same cheap type - I was going to go for one of these types but in the end I got a secondhand blitz - only used for 2000 miles. looks very new.

You just need to get a filter that has a 3" opening.
Mine's actually 2.5" i'm using a silicone reducer to step it up to the 3" inlet.

I bit the bullet and went for a Blitz too -

Didn't buy from Rogue, got mine from Graham Goode Racing in Leicester, only a little cheaper but no postage..!!

The fit is good and it's a dry filter that you just buy replacements for at about £25.00 a go

I have an Apexi one, seems very little product for the money they cost.

You get a small ally shield to stop rain water dripping down onto it from the engine lid.

iv got me a K&N pod filter, IMO very very good value for money
cost me $140 and of course its cleanable with their special cleaning stuff so no need to replace it.
certainly seems to do the job too (iv had the filter in the mr2 for just over a year now, was used with the 3s, and now with the 3vz)

Well, I bought a k&n filter after the el-cheapo one fell apart. I did need the adapter plate anyway so it wasn't a total loss.

Replaced it with a k&n filter of the same dimensions. Part number RU-3580. This one is rubber mounted (no fancy metal bits/ends etc) so saves loads of weight.... erm.... :P

It was a special order from my local rally suppliers. Believe it cost £45 or so. I like the fact it has a sticker on the box saying "k&n off road & racing - intended for off-road, racing and marine applications ONLY. Not intended for use on emission controlled vehicles."..... :shifty:

Its also a "closed end" cone filter - not one of these open end/dual flow/whetever you call it like the apexi ones for instance.

Passed its mot with it fitted so there can't be a problem. :D

Does it matter what size the filter is anyway? Is there an optimum size of cone filter for a 3.0ltr engine?

Fizzy i thought the bigger the better - less restrictive

dont think it really matters al that much.. when you get a good aftermarket filter, there will be plenty of air. No need to slap on thos Titanic sized filters..
I think you should look for one that looks and sounds good, is made of some proper materials. The difference between those filters in gained power is imho not even noticeble.

ps: ive got a cheap ass filter on my 3sge just for the noise and it works great, if you put the trottle down fast enough it will suck up so much air at once that it makes a popping sound followed by ''whooshh'' <-- you know what i mean ;)
