View Full Version : The new Woodsport is born!

You lot may have been wondering why ive not been as active on the forum engine swap wise,no daily updates and no swap progress at all! Well reason being is Woodsport has finally taken the plunge and relocated to a fab new workshop about 5 miles away from the old place at haswell, which to be honest was a bit of a turdhole!

Anyway we have been very busy getting this place ready for the last 3 weeks so apologies must go out to everyone who has been either waiting for their cars to get finished or waiting for us to start on new builds, this is a once only move so im very sorry for the time delays.

To cut a long story short ive had to lay new concrete floors, build a spraybooth, paint the whole place out, install decent lighting and generally make the place mr2 friendly but i do believe we have the makings of one of the best mr2 garages in the country here.My lifelong friend Anth has taken the brave step of jacking his well paid job in to come work alongside me doing mr2 work everyday,we also have Dean onboard who is a 20 year time served spray painter and fabricator, although anth and i can both paint and weld, dean is taking the burden of this new work, bodykits and custom work are a specialty and his painting is second to mine, lol i mean none of course lol

So heres a quick guided tour of the new woodsport, its not quite finished yet so please bear with me,theres still a lot to do!

Starting from the outside we have a large carparking area, full 24hr security on site and twin full height electric roller shutter doors. These and the steel doors to the sides are the only point of entry and its all fully floodlit outside at night.

http://www.twobrutal.co.uk/forum/images/recovered/2007/05/1.jpg

Inside we have 1600sq/ft to play with, two Mr2 bays which will eventually have two post lifts installed.....
http://www.twobrutal.co.uk/forum/images/recovered/2007/05/2.jpg

And a fully equipped spray booth... (still under construction)

http://www.twobrutal.co.uk/forum/images/recovered/2007/05/3.jpg

Heres dean beavering away trying to get the booth ready...more lights to install and we have an industrial extractor unit that will suck a golf ball thru a garden hose! so no fumes in the garage....

http://www.twobrutal.co.uk/forum/images/recovered/2007/05/4.jpg

Ive fitted mega sized stainless steel tool chests imported from china...(cheers limey!)

http://www.twobrutal.co.uk/forum/images/recovered/2007/05/5.jpg

And we have built an engine rebuilding station (benches to you)....

http://www.twobrutal.co.uk/forum/images/recovered/2007/05/6.jpg

The unit also has clean toilet facilities and an office.....heres anth going to said toilet for a shit.... lol

http://www.twobrutal.co.uk/forum/images/recovered/2007/05/7.jpg

Purpose built for engine conversions with two work stations, heres two V6's being done at the same time....double the output! world domination isnt far away muhahahahahaaaaa!!!

http://www.twobrutal.co.uk/forum/images/recovered/2007/05/8.jpg

At the moment we have to give the new concrete floor a few months to fully cure before the lifts can be bolted down,so for the meantime we are working off the floor still.....and i cant floorpaint for two months either!

http://www.twobrutal.co.uk/forum/images/recovered/2007/05/9.jpg

So thats what we have been up to over the last 3 weeks,no more big time delays getting work done and a professional new image for woodsport.....

....shouldnt take long before i skank it up!

Amazing mate... amazing - In fact, I'll glady act as a "mystery shopper" for that new spray booth...

Yeah - it's a top idea... I'll pretend i'm a paying customer (I could make it convincing) and then give your new spray bod my car... If he does a good job - he gets to keep his ;)... If not... well - he'll do a good job!!

Anyway, joking apart, as I said before - all the best Paul :)

On a semi serious note Paul, I'd consider welding some brackets to that shiney roll cab so that you can lock the thing to the wall/ground.

A good friend of mine was utter convinced that his was too large and heavy to ever be stolen. On the night in question, the thieves cut the phone lines, jacked the roller shutters and rolled his tool cab straight into a transit van.

Got DSL there yet? hopefully if you've got it by the time I'm visiting we can get the other bits sorted - Top of the office looks to have a nice view! :)

Yeah jiff, top of office has a superb view of the whole thing, plus i can pick my nose and eat it just around the corner out of sight :) no dsl as yet though, working on it.

Whoever suggested a webcam in the bog has a disturbed mind! you need to pay a visit to www.ratemypoo.com (http://www.ratemypoo.com) ,legendary webshite! literally!

John the old man came over today for a nosey,we are there most days until around 6pm if you want to drop in....you got to say the magic word at the security gate or they wont let you in (woodsport).

Hearing you on the security issue jiff,i'll need to weld some brackets to that toolchest for sure.

No asbestos in the roof, just rockwool, orrible stuff!

am i right in thinking you offer to do the mr1.5 conversion?
am very interested as i would be killed in the attempt of one on the drive.
what price do you charge for this? supply and fit all parts

Have a look here... http://forums.twobrutal.com/showthread.php?t=6799

Also worth a poke around the woodsport forum and a few of the build threads.

Hope that helps,

Owen.

Will you be generously awarding Woodsport stickers to those beast that have been tarted up in your establiment or are you going to reserve them just for th brutalised engine conversions?

By the way - whoever did whatever to let us see the "over 18" pictures on the other thread - could you do it again on this one please? I can't see the new banners -

Impressive! Simply impressive!!:eek2:

Paul Woods
30-06-2007, 09:17
hasad i think that was 2001/2 ,looking back its ridiculous that no one in the uk had done it sooner given the mk1 has been around since 85 and the mk2 turbo engine since 90...by 2000 there should have been one or two kicking about.

sorry that was a bit random!

Digging up an old thread here but it seems we have gone all upmarket these days, no longer an Mr2 garage, Ferraris only !

The one on the left is in for an exhaust upgrade, it is 3vz-fe equipped, the one on the right has a 2gr-fe.

19-04-2010, 20:43
So is Phils's and mine going to be the only road going 2GR's in the UK? Seeing as the others are in either Ferraris or rally cars? :)

I never thought about the replica scene when the V6 first became available all those years ago, pretty popular as I can see!

Paul Woods
19-04-2010, 20:49
Yeah we do loads of Ferrari rep V6's Lee, pretty much right up their street in terms of getting the replica to sound and go as it should.... i honestly think a 2gr Ferrari replica will hand the real thing its arse, or at least be on par with it.

20-04-2010, 12:08
Have to agree with Paul on that one, having driven a real one - my replica is pretty much on a par, acceleration wise anyway. The Rep' loses out on top speed, largely to do with gearing.
