Been researching this and found that some recommed 3 litres (contacted opie oils) and one guy on the oc said he used 2.8 litres.

Most likely on the C52 mk1 N/A box. Capacity of the E51 is 4.2 or 4.5 depending on where you look, but you won't get more than 4L (or 4 quarts of MT90) in there. I can recommend MT90 though it sure aint cheap.

I'd suggest that he didn't fill it right if he only got 2.8 into an E51, I usually get about 3.6-3.7.

Reading up further and found that you are supposed to use a sulphur free oil as the sulphur becomes acidic and eats the synchros. Any ideas on which oils are sulphur free?

H,

I'd go for the Redline MT90 stuff too

Like said before it ain't cheap but it is well worth it, had it in mine now for 18 months and it's great stuff.
