View Full Version : Alternator drive belt replacement

Hi folks.How difficult is it to replace the alternator drive belt on a MK2 REV1 3S-GTE.Mine snapped the other day so i need to do it for the weekend.Any tips/short cuts will be gratefully appreciated Thanks. Indy.

If it's the same as the mk1, it's easy, jus need to remember to hold the alternator out on refitting with a bar wedged between that and the block.

Otherwise it won't be tight enough. HTH. :thumbsup:

It seems to be a funny one as it runs on the inside of another belt so you have to remove that one first.Its a good idea of Toyotas as when it snapped all it took out was the charging system the last car i had that the belt let go left me stranded as it took out the waterpump power steering etc.Cheers for that mate hopefully get it sorted for weekend.

On the mk1 it's on the right hand side of the engine. Dunno bout the 3sgte.

The other belt will be for the power steering pump

Yeah its for the air con.I phoned Paul this morning and he told me to cut the A/C belt off,its a waste of time having it on as the Veranti is open topped.So 15mins later job done so as the day is fine and i got long easter break i,m off for a spin.Have a good day at work folks......NOT.
