Aaargh...! Snapped my one & only key. Not sure where, think it's in the ignition as the car will still start with half a key. Although I can still unlock the driver's door if I jiggle it enough...! A bit of a worry really as anybody may be able to get it with a bit of effort.

Sourced a scrappy who will sell me a complete set of locks for ?20 but how easy is it to change the ignition? The one he's got is complete with the bracket. Can I just remove the barrel?

Paul, what do I need for the handleless doors? Is it just an alarm with a boot opening option, plus the actuall boot opening part off another car....?

hi mate, the ignition barrel isnt hard to change, you will easily do that...as for the handle-less doors, yes i used a remote kit that had a lock/unlock feature and also a boot release button....it was this button that i used to power an escort tailgate solenoid that i mounted inside the drivers door onto the rod that usually opens the door.Took ages to get right....i saw a remote kit very similar to mine on ebay this morning...... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/New-Keyless-Entry-4-Door-Central-Locking-Kit-2-Remotes_W0QQitemZ8002548316QQcategoryZ15329QQrdZ1Q QcmdZViewItem

This one even comes with solenoids.

This one below is similar to mine,no solenoids...

Full details of my conversion in this thread http://twobrutal.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=24

Hope that helps mate

DER, I never thought about getting a new key...! As far as I'm aware it's the original set on the car, how would I tell for sure? It wasn't the original key though, just a copy. How would I get a new key and how easy would it be to remove the piece of key from the ig? The scrappy said I could have the 2 doors, boot, ig & glove box. So I thought I might as well change them all so it's just the one key to carry...!
