Joy of fucking joys... while stripping the clutch off, its come to light that one of my compressor blades if slightly bent.

What are the risks of this?

My thoughts are off balance, and contacting the housing, sending crap into my nice fresh built engine.

Anyone confirm for me?

Here is a pic of the offending blade. I think its obvious which one it is, but if you're having trouble, its the top (left) one.

I wouldn't risk it especially on a newly built engine! take it to a specialist and get them to balance it / see what they think?

I think its pretty lucky you spotted it could have been naaaasty!

I'd get it looked at mate, if only to cure paranoia. You can guarentee everytime you boost, you'll be second guessing yourself and listening for things that either are, or are not there.

Safe than sorry mate...

Thanks guys. I've got another fucked ct26 with an unbent compressor, but knackered bearings. SO I might get a mash up of them both. Depends on costs really.

Alternatively, I'm thinking of just knocking the whole ct26 bollocks on the head and getting the 35R on there.

Only problem with that is I need alot of custom fabrication doing.

It never rains it fucking pours! God I feel like shit - don't you just love projects...

What are your goals mate? Big BHP or driveability? The GT3071 is getting good reviews as something that can handle both. I think the GT35R is very laggy on an I4 isn't it?

After reading aobut tubos going boom and the high rpms they reach i wouldn`t gamble on leaving in be. Buy a rebuild kit and combine the two turbos. The kit is about 70$+-. I paid 89+11 for shipping. Got it in 4 days from the us.

No, common misconception, there's good aids and bad aids, you'll know when you got one but not the other.

I don't think I'm confident enough to rebuild a turbo and then stick it on my own car. Wouldn't it need to be rebalanced after being rebuilt?

Anyone got a good condition ct26 floating around?

get a shop to stick a new wheel on and balance it, should not cost too much ant. its only held on by a m6 x 1 left hand, remove compressor housing held by large internal clip, change wheel.. toodle over to turbo shop.. get them to re torque nut.. balance assembly.. put on housing circlip... I'd think 30- 50 quid tops.
