Think about what you've achieved here for a moment Paul - to be contacted by random folk to undertake pioneering work...enjoy that moment right there  :praise2:  :shades:

wow you madman.... who's the nutter who's decided for this? I can't see it being easy as I've seen the work that has gone into rogues 3s-GTE mk3 project! Should be awesome once its finished though

Paul Woods

From what it sounded quite a lot of work went into it, but I guess its no v8 mk1 :D

Paul Woods
11-11-2006, 16:59
i cast my eye over it at jae2005,nowt out of the ordinary really...there will be less space for the v6 which is going to be a challenge, bring it on.

so are you looking for staff then paul?

Paul Woods
11-11-2006, 18:44
not at the moment but its not far off...the problem is im outgrowing my premises too, theres only enough space for one mechanic at the mo,if id a bigger place id take someone on instantly.

Ive the chance of a new place with lifts already in,room for 10 cars inside and 50 cars in its yard...but its a lot more rent,ho hum!!! the jump up from being a one man band to employing is huge....its got to happen sooner or later though.

I'll be making a staff decision around march/april i think.

28-01-2007, 18:00
Could that be the USDM IS350 engine, or the 3MZ-FE?

Paul Woods
28-01-2007, 18:02
ive a feeling its a 3mz

biteme
28-01-2007, 18:07

Paul Woods
28-01-2007, 18:50

Sparky
30-01-2007, 05:16

Paul Woods

MegatronUK
30-01-2007, 10:07
Bah, why no GE-headed versions? :(

Jaemus
30-01-2007, 10:14
because toyota dont make proper sports cars anymore. :(

Paul Woods
30-01-2007, 17:32
john for some strange reason toyota dont want to build their v6's to rival the 2jz-gte,why ive no idea!

biteme
30-01-2007, 21:19
Because they can't have an "economy" engine beating their "flagship" and "performance" straight 6 can they?

Engine design has come a long way since the 2jz though - so it's hardly a crime to have a new evolution of engines is it?

Paul Woods
31-01-2007, 06:39
yeah but why stick FE heads on a new evolution of engine...i think thats johns point. It has the potential to be so much better! still i suppose thats our job!

Jaemus

i know what you mean paul, imo, every one of the cars they're fitting these motors to has both fuel economy and driveability awfully high on its list of priorities.

its like what happened in the states, when they released the 7th gen celica, with either a 141kw 2ZZ-GE or a 120ish? kw 1ZZ-FE, alot of people were going for the 1ZZ, thinking that it actually seemed more powerful, because it had more low end torque and was therefore more 'driveable'. also the 1ZZ naturally had better economy, so theres your sale. (i know we were talking about big sixes but i reckon the same theories still apply).

at least theyve come up with some interesting stuff like direct injection.

and yeah, we wouldnt want to put ourselves out of a job!

Sparky

No 1GR :( So what engine do you have in your prado over there then?

20-04-2007, 15:23
I'm going to add to the Mk 3 V6 numbers as soon as Paul can fit me in.:shades:
Still reading through all the stuff on here about the Mk1 and Mk2 swaps. Amazing work, a bit of an artist I reckon is Paul.

great news, so i guess youll be bigging up your membership and displaying a tb sticker on your machine..?!
mr woods is okay at what he does i suppose..! ;)

Shorty
20-04-2007, 18:44
Agree, get your big membership and stick that sticker with pride on the mk3. People will know your brutal when they see it and think "wonder whats under that engine lid?"

Yep, I've no qualms about a new engine taking the crown from the 2JZ, but why build an obviously stonking engine and then stick narrow angled valve geometry on it?
