View Full Version : Quick wheel nut question
Need a quick answer please.
I've got some mk3 alloys for my mk1 for Elvington tomorrow, but wanted to check that the mk1 wheel nuts fit ok, as its all I have.
If not, I need some mk3 ones quickly.
Ta.
I think the MK3 alloys require a chamfered nut, whereas the MK1 nuts have a flat face.
Easy to check, have a look at one of the holes in the MK3 alloy, and if the bottom of the hole is flat, you're laughing. If it's chamfered/on an angle, you need new nuts.

Blimey, maybe that should read trully bad ascii!!!
Good thinking - bottom of the hole is flat and nuts seem to rest on them perfectly.
Thanks for that !!
You got a pic of mk3 wheels on a mk1?
I take it this means you'll have 16" rears and 15" fronts.
Will they fit ok?
Pictures can be found here;

and the early MK3's were 15" all round.
