anyone whos fabricated an engine bay lid with mk2 turbo vents your advice appreciated!, and anyone else whos just modded the lid, and well anyone that wants to shout..ive just brought a 12" spal fan, although.. when it came it wasnt ideally what im after. i think its too tall, its 85mm thick with that lump sticking out the rear. its a sucky type fan.. so the lump should point skywards.. which may limit me heightwaise with components in the bay. anyone have any idea how much depth you have between your modded engine lid and the top of the components in bay?. i plan to stick it in either the left or the right turbo vented section. if its not going to happen, i'll have to get shot of it and buy a slimmer one.sorry for those that cannot see the pics, im not online yet and the phone cannot handle the graphic symbols above to attatch pictures.base is 30-35mm thick, and the magnet part is around 40-50mm thickhttp://www.adamhutchison.co.uk/graphics/spal1.jpghttp://www.adamhutchison.co.uk/graphics/spal2.jpg

Can't see the pics yet Ad but can you not install the lump pointing into the bay then wire it with opposite polarity so that the fan spins the other way or am I talking shite?

Cheers Si. Are you sure it points skywards Ad. I would've thought that the fan is installed with the grill/lump facing into the bay.

I believe he meant that the magnet is on top.

You cant change the polarity because the blades have an angle and a shape to them that helps to increase their effectivness and keep them quiet. If you reverse to polarity they wont be anywhere near as effective.

Can you recess them into the mk1 lid so the magnet pocks up into the acctual lid section but not through the top skin or the lid.

See what your saying about the polarity/blades Sparks but I don't think that would be a problem. However, can the fan be flipped 180 deg in the grill? That would overcome it. Told you I talk shite lol

i know.. i'll stick 12v up its aris and see whioch way it spins first before i sell it ! still, i think the size will be a problem, its going to be a short while before im working on IC piping and the bay so i have no idea on sizing.. just prep work!
cheers for sorting pix si.
