View Full Version : Rev3 Mr2 mk1.5. Any different build than..

Hi fellas.

I was just wondering before i order if there where any difference in building a rev3 engine in the mk1 compared to the rev2?
I mean about the engine mounts etc. If i get a clip there`s pretty much all i need to do the swap exept brakes and suspencion.

I`m thinking of ordering a rear clip from a rev3 mr2 with originally 265 bhp!
This will cost 2850 USD but the dollar is very cheap from Norway now and this is a real bargin i think.

Any advice on this is very helpful.

I'm sure someone will confirm but I think they are identical as far as fitting is concerned.

You will also need:-

Outer CV joints

Mechanical speedo drive (the rev 3 has an elecrtonic one, but a rev 1 mechanical will slot straight in and drive your MK1's speedo.)

A fuel pump of some sort. (Turbo, supercharger of aftermarket.)

A celica alternator bracket (to relocate the alternator behind the engine.) and a means of tensioning the belt

Intercooler hoses and the like

er, that's about it I think.

yep as Al says, pops in there exactly the same as the earlier revisions..except for the wiring of course..why they have to change colours i do not know.!!

I have some more info on the engine. It`s a GEN 3 from a sw20 chassie. Will that change anything on the build? I read something about liquid to air and that was hard to make or something. Any ideas on this or will it just pop in like rev1-2?
