View Full Version : Possible V6 Mk2
okay the engine is dead in my mk2 and since I dont exactly have the cash to buy a camry vienta (V6) donor over here, it looks like I will have to settle for hunting down the engine and related bits and pieces.
What I need to know is what othe bits and pieces I need to pick up with the engine.
My car is a 1990 Mk2 MR2 with 3sge and n/a transmission.

engine harness/ecu/coilpack/ignitor pack, vacuum tank, all engine ancillaries like alt, exhaust downpipes, drivers engine mount (PM fourveesix) and flywheel modified (PM Peebs).Off the top of my head thats all i can think of at the mo.
Thanks paul.
BTW do you need any of this stuff

Well it looks like I'm gonna be forced into doing a V6 now. (what a shame - but also a nightmare) The bank has declined my application for credit so I can no longer afford to get a rebuilt 3sge.
So at the moment everything from the clutch to the wheels is right, I just need the flywheel and up. Is that right.

im good for parts sparky, thanks for that anyway.... yep you have everything from the clutch to the wheels,so its just engine etc you need.....the trick is getting the salvage yard to supply you with everything, the ecu needs its 4th plug too and 6" of wire on the plug, that one goes to the cars harness so you just chop it off.
Any help you need with parts sourcing just ask mate.
Thanks Paul. If you need anything from over here in the colony :) just yell.
Oh and believe me I'll be asking if this goes ahead. :)
Would a camry half cut be a goer?

yes, that'll do donkey :) (big shrek fan) as long as the ecu comes with that (depending where they cut! ecu is under glovebox!)
Sorry to hear about your engine going bang Sparky, looks like Paul has already covered most of what you will need, but just make sure the salvage yard doesn't go hacking the loom apart, if you get a half clip.
I can grab the engine for $995 Aus dollars. How hard is it going to be to find all the other stuff for it.
I'm guessing that its not going to be that hard to find all the other bits (camry's are resonably popular) but what kind of prices am I going to be looking at.

that's going to depend a lot on local prices, and I don't think we have enough aussies here to answer that one for you.
Do you have any damaged vehicle auctions or anything like that over there? Camrys, Windoms etc often go reasonably cheap here because when they blow the headgasket(s) often people can't afford to fix them (fixing a BHG costs almost what the cars are worth) and so people sell them off. I know when I was over in Aus a couple of months ago I saw a reasonable number of Camrys, didn't pay attention to how many were V6s but there must be a few damaged/BHG ones about
