o.k, ive been avoiding it like the plague, i know its been there, today i took the plunge into working my rear end. i'm really not good at this type of work. any help is priceless. a few shots of what it was like with a little bit of plying it about and bashing holes. i think i need to replace these parts with new metal sheets and tack them on.. so far... are you seated?..

the metal behind the panel isnt so bad as the bit that isnt there

the drivers side is a new wing from previous owner, so all o.k aside the join onto the old rear valence is rotten, not worried here.

the rear valence was rotted at the bottom, pretty bad, i chopped the whole thing off from just under the boot seam. altho, i cut stright thru the boot seam at the join (twat) i'll have to re-seam that.

i would be buggered without one for the passenger side:

theres that boot floor seam.. chopped right thru.. couldnt get any worse really.

the metal above the quarter is ok in places, although the arch is rotten right round. can you believe the sills on this car are solid ?! although the a-pillars are also fubared.

my replacement panel will fit over here, and some other work piecing in bits of metal to reconstruct, i will of course be treating the metal behind it you see here, which should treat.. its not rotten thru yet.

now, im no bodyworker.. i was just thinking of sticking this bit in here into the slot, and tacking the existing lip over it, tacking round the to, and blending after. and reconstructing the missing pieces with good metal.

heres the rear end, i'll have to get one large sheet to cover, and bend the creases in, this will run from end to end.

worth looking for a breaker and slicing out the rear panel?

Have you bought or made the panels Adam ? Just Curious.

P.S. if you want some work done on your rear end, ask Owen...:welsh:

pretty bad mate but if it makes you feel better ive rebuilt worse,so it can only get better, its not as rotten as it could have been believe me.

Small steps, pick an area and work on that until done....you will soon get there mate.I use 1mm steel for patching/panel fabrication and spot weld everything,no runs...but make the spots so close together they touch so as strong as a run but without the distortion.
