theres a scrap yard near me with a skip full of used brake discs. what size disc do i need for the front brakes and what are the caliper options. im sure i can get a disc to bolt straight on without having to redrill the holes. think im gonna keep the rear brakes standard though.

if you are going for the st165 twin pots the disc is the standard size 258mm
for the st185 single pots - disc size is 280mm
for the big st 205 - they are resized to 300mm
helpful? watch out for the offset of the discs as they are different sizes!

mart if you are using st185 twin pots then your stock mk1 258mm disc works fine with that,no need for a new disc, offset is correct too.

Yep, more trouble than it's worth to get the extra ~2mm thickness of the small ST165/ST185 over a standard mk1b disc.
By all means use them if they're new and come with your calipers for nowt, but otherwise just use a normal mk1b disc.

As long as you're not going crazy I would think it should still stop ok. I wouldn't be thinking about doing any mega horsepower upgrades on the 3S though.
