Hi All.. long time no speak..
same faces on here i hope (and some new)

After building my 1.5 i moved onto trackdays in a mk3 which i enjoyed.

then moved into a mk2 and joined the toyota sprint series in C Street.
I did a lot better than expect and won the class for the year.
So i moved onto C Pro (over 1600cc NA), Currently running a rev 5 Na with ACIS spacers egr blanked and HKS manifold..
Car is also down to 1060kg
I have been doing well this year, but i would really like a little more grunt, especially as i now have some played with 190vvti corrollas and celicas to compete with.

Now i would love to go 2GR (as its na i would stay in the same group) it would be amazing.. but money i cannot afford that..

So after speaking with Patrick (headcase), i think the 1mz is the way to go.

Will i notice a difference on track? i need more mid range out of corners grunt..
Will it accept the punishment i will give it.. i have my lightened flywheel TRD lsd na box to go on and 3 paddle clutch. its not a road car never sees the road
Run V70a Soft track tyres on it. there are a lot of hard launches as its a sprint car and looking to do hill climbs in it

The 1mz lighter than the sge? i know about the headgaskets and cambelt.. is anything else performance wise worth doing before going ahead?

I really need it be as reliable as my current 3sge which has been faultless no matter how much abuse i have given it...
Wiring easy enough on the swap?

Off to hunt the site to read peoples swaps..

any input is always helpful.. looking forward to building a competitive v6

here are the pics from croft last weekend

hello mate

I did a lot better than expect and won the class for the year.

Absolutely, yes you will. You're almost doubling the torque that the 2.0 n/a gives you and adding 50% more power (assuming 1MZ vvti)

Will it accept the punishment i will give it.. i have my lightened flywheel TRD lsd na box to go on and 3 paddle clutch. its not a road car never sees the road

Yes, it's more of a workhorse than the 4pots are, the stock ECU is for hauling a 2ton people carrier around so may not be the optimal map for your needs.
You should consider investing in an aftermarket ECU and additional oil cooling if it's going to spend lots of time at WOT.
Remember when you pulled out your gearbox mounts doing hard changes ? You can look forward to (a lot) more of that kind of work, the extra torque puts more work into the chassis.

The 1mz lighter than the sge? i know about the headgaskets and cambelt.. is anything else performance wise worth doing before going ahead?

Lighter than a turbo, not quite as light as a 3S-GE. the turbo gearbox is also heavier than the n/a box but might last a bit longer.

I really need it be as reliable as my current 3sge which has been faultless no matter how much abuse i have given it...

I would say the v6s deliver equivalent reliability, they're probably built with a bit less stress in them than the 3s-ge or gte.

Over to people who actually build the things.

I can just tell you you'll find speed a lot more easily with a v6 in the bay than having to rag a 4 pot to the redline all the time.

Good luck, keep us informed of what happens.

thanks Gav.. i remember the grunt yours had.. would love that but just can't afford it.. but that may be the next step up.
good shout on aftermarket ecu at some point.. not sure how easy that would be..

just for info here is my update from last weekend.,.

Croft is such a long way.. 1173 KM there and back for me.. but well worth it

Some pics of the day.. it was a really nice day in the end..

bit of a worry.. so slippy first go out.. and due to noise regs and amount of cars not all runs were made :(

A GT4 had a big off on first sighting lap..(it was slippy)
but he used a friends cara and went on to win his class

I was not happy with my times at start of the day. but some hard work, tyre pressue adjustments.. times were going in the right direction.. i just want a bit more mid range grunt..

I think the car would have gone quicker had we had the last 2 runs of the day or i had got over myself and gone faster earlier.. (i was angry with my self in the morning and my times showed it) i have no idea why.

but i still really enjoyed it..

My main competition was Tom Jewel in his celica 190.. i manage to beat him for first by .7 of a sec.. so the competition is defo hotting up for blyton next round.. which i really have to conquer

a huge thanks to kels, jackie and dm for coming all that way with me and a huge hug to my pajero for tugging the race car up there and back being just brilliant..

A poorly GT4

Pete, (You in) that car of yours is properly fast now, I've watched a few of your sprints in it.
You'll love a v6 - the 1mz vvti won't be massively different from mine - remember also mine is a slightly wallowy GT road suspension setup and doesn't get the best from its power compared to yours.
Just be aware you're more likely to break rear traction out of corners and the weighting is going to change a bit.
I'm amazed fitting a v6 allows you to stay in the same class.
