Awesome, my old man said he would help with the wiring as long as I got the diagrams so that will be a great help. Now to get the bloody car to rip it from. Spent most of my time in work today emailing all the salvage yards to see if they had any damaged/repairable LS400 or soarers but had no reply's :-(

if anyone spots a car for under £800 let me know got the cash ready for it. Hoping the one on ebay doesn't go above that.

paff for this swap you would probably get away with just buying the motor rather than worrying about a whole car. Not sure what they're like there, but 1uz-fes are cheap as chips here, less infact than a good 3sgte. Since you don't need any drivetrain parts etc buying a car rather than just a motor might not really be needed

I was thinking whole car cos I may be able to fund most of it selling bits. I've only had one reply on a engine/ecu/wiring loom so far and the guy wanted £700, hense looking for thew whole car as its not much more/sometimes less.

Wish I lived there if they are cheap as chips I'd buy 2 :-)

Oh well I'll see if this lexus salvage yard get back to me tomorrow, they might have a few lying round spare and sell me one cheap :-)

podge does the megasquirt have the facility for programmable outputs? what i mean is what controls all of the toyota vsv's for stuff like t-vis,acis,fpr vsv, idle up vsv's etc etc...usually all that gear is controlled by the toyota ecu.

can it handle stuff like that or just basic fuel and ignition control?

Paul I'm pretty sure that the latest version of the megasquirt can be coupled to programmable outputs, I may be wrong. I'll check with Alun when I see him, he's been the one looking into the megasquirt out of our little group so may have more of an idea.

Hi Paul, depending on the code set used the megasquirt gives you plenty of programmable outputs :)

I was looking at the megasquirt n spark extra version of the code myself ( features can be found here http://megasquirt.sourceforge.net/extra/ ). Four programmable outputs, you can trigger them off anything from throttle position to battery voltage. If you grab a copy of the Megatune program you can have a look and see if you can set them up the way you'd like

Was thinking of using them for such handy things as supercharger control (turn it on at >50% throttle, turn it off when the throttle drops back below 40%), maybe water injection if the intake temp gets too high. A handy function on the outputs allows you to prevent outputs "flickering" on and off at a threshold point by having the switch off point lower than the activation point for the output.

Random thought: it'll let you use a pair of ford EDIS modules as ignition on a v8. May help if you need to lose a distributor to save space.

thats superb info alun, answered a lot of questions in one hit there! great ,if the 1uz ecu is too hard to wire up/has error codes/or dizzy needs removing then MS is the way to go,nice one mate.

what i was thinking paul was to try and get rid of all the crap off the engine maybe even t-bodies

Paul Woods

yes decrapping is definately the way forward, ive half pulled the engine out today and we can lose almost everything off the front of the engine, its all PS,AC,and idler pulleys and one tensioner....that will take a bit of length off the engine.
