er...id be checking for a HG failure rick mate, unless your rad is in a real bad way,the pressure build up could be down to a HG breach. The pressure cap doesnt give way until you shut the engine down anyway,it should never be opening during running....if it does then theres airlocking or water pump blades have come adrift etc, this is just in my experience at the garage.Hopefully you just have a knackered rad mate.

I had pretty much the same problem on my NA. Botched a worn expansion cap with araldite, worked fine for 6 months then died overheating the engine. Replaced cap and all was well for a day but then the heater matrix and the rad went soon after. New rad and SH matrix and it was fine until, right up until metal worm killed the car.

Keep the faith,

Owen. (Or stick a V6 in it just to make sure.)

Paul, been reading the Haynes manual, operating pressure of the system is almost that of the cap release pressure!
Pipes get hard, but nothing excessive, no steam and no loss, unless theres a frigging hole in the RAD! ARRGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!

hmmm the cap only opens on shutdown when the pressure exceeds that of the cap,it shouldnt be opening when the engines running unless you have steam forming in the system which is either trapped air,HG,water pump failure or bleed point O ring failure above the gearbox.
