Having some dirty thoughts about a Lancia 037 inspired Mk1.

Rather than a SC'd I4 though i'm thinking longitudinal V6.

Anyone know what Audi engines will bolt up to the O1X box other than the 4.2?

Does the 3.2/3.0 V6 come with 01X box in any Audi bundles? What length are they?

Hoping someone has researched these before and may be able to help.

Cheers,

Found some info : http://www.audiworld.com/news/04/a6indepth/drivetrain/content.shtml

Reckon this will bolt up to the O1X? Are the Audi engines all a common bolt pattern to bellhousing?

Only 360mm long so will definitely go in a Mk1 lengthways.

Olie as far as i'm aware all Audi bellhousing patterns are pretty much the same, i'm not 100% though.

Sounds a lovely engine.... I think finding one may be the most difficult part...

I'm stuck how 20Valves go into 6 cylinders myself but the 3.2 caught my eye. 24V i believe.

I think Tommytank means the old and rather antique (yet can still make big power) 5-cyl 2.2 20v Engine that was sold in the 90's to Volvo and appeared in the T5 and then moved into the Focus RS/ST of now. Beautiful sounding engine and hard as nails but boy is it massive!

Yea, it's a long bugger, but in turbo format they sound and go phenomenally. Plus, if there is room for a v12...

I think Olber means without cutting the firewall. I certainly couldn't protrude into the cabin as I'm a lanky bastard and would sap precious leg space. Not to mention finding a good one that wasn't snapped up to do a much simpler 20v conversion on a 2.8 quattro would be hard..

Ah yes, get you now.

I'm thinking short as owt V6 in line and not cutting anything but the boot floor and the rear bumper. I want the guts viewable from the rear a la :

Then a SC to give it that proper rally slag sound and go.

Other option would be a SC'd scooby flat 4 but not sure which gearbox would work and fit. Can you make the scooby boxes 2WD quite easily?

If you wanted the F4 Boxer i'd probably opt for an adapter plate and use and Audi box again.. That said, knowing these things you may find they fit on several holes anyway! (But unlikely!)

Seems there are plenty of Scooby 2WD boxes you can use or mod the 4WD boxes to shorten them too.
