diy coilovers
ok i've read about people doing it to the mk1's and i've infact got some on my ax :) but that weighs about half a mk2
does anyone have them on a mk2 if so what do they feel like?
i'd consider doing it to bilstein black's (b4's) and presumably you could get tein s springs, spring rating to get matching or similar coilover springs and hope for a good setup although i am heading towards trying to build it up for rallying style events or maybe hillclimbs so would people actualy recommend staying on a normal spring and shock method for reliability on rougher terrain?

any replies much appreciated

hmm coilovers with plenty of travel would be great for rally/hill climb for the obvious reason of being able to alter the vehicle height to suit. i would worry that certain setups may not provide enough travel for rough terrain.

I've been looking at air suspension lately like coilovers but you can inflate and deflate it to either harden or soften the ride, plus adjust the body height from low scraping the sills to off road ability.

Problem is the cost and fitting of the compressor .

yeah not really a diy solution either.

It was a DIY kit dude bit like buying the springs and machined sleeve, you still have to drill grind a weld it so as to fit the airbags and keep the original shocks, I don't think it's a bolt on or plug and play wish it was at nearly 2 thou plus fitting.

how different are the celica and mr2 dampers??

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TOYOTA-CELICA-ST202-94-99-LOWERED-COILOVER-SPRING-SET-/130482528537?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item1e615d6119#ht_500wt_938

these are on ebay for a celica i think the mr2 rears are completely different though arent they?

should be getting a tubby bilstein next week to measure all going well:)
