Hello mate!

Welcome to TB! I've moved your post to the intro section so people can find it a bit easier.

Keep those pics coming, and don't forget to include some of the original car!

I am loving the Lambo!

:)

Hi Buddy and welcome.

I've been watching this along with Jon's Gallardo build on MadMechanics and I am stunned at the attention to detail and time you have spent on it.

When it's finished you need to get it over to the UK to show what can be done, the one in Paul's garage looks equally awesome. I think replicas of this calibre are now being viewed with as much appreciation as the original models they are taken from.

snowtigger
15-04-2012, 22:22
needs a v8 or 2gr in it to give it that oomph, as the looks wise this will be stunning when painted, not a fan of replicas but these lambos are growing on me.

Wow awsome work going on there!!

Engine wise it needs a GM LS4 :icon_biggrin:
Transverse 5.4 V8 wich fits wit (allmost) not cutting needed!

OlberJ
16-04-2012, 19:31
It needs the BMW V12 or similar.

I have to say its looking good, there's a hellofa lot of work gone into this. I was wondering, is the roll cage staying? Also I take it the choc block wiring is only a temporary solution?

Paul Woods
02-05-2012, 07:38
I hope the cage is staying, i've seen the video of these kits under construction and my only criticism is that the whole roof is removed (as we all know it's integral to the monocoque working) and it is replaced with very substandard 20mm box section which then has the FG roof bonded onto it..... that's not enough, not even close.

I'd say a cage is essential in one of these.

peggyontherun
02-05-2012, 11:57
@ Goldy - Nope am leaving the block connectors as there are 64 wires in each rear light as the Led's dont generate much and i have grouped them in blocks of 10 just in case any of the Led's die on me and i can change it quick.

@ Paul Woods - Yip the whole roof is removed ive had to put some strength back into the car there are strength bars welded and bolted to the bulk head as well for extra strength as well. The frame is only 20mm box section so you could imagne if an accident ocured.

Gouky
02-05-2012, 16:15
Instead of a sub-woofer, this things needs a 2gr with some Borla mufflers for a noise generator.

the fitment of the cage is a bit disappointing after seeing all the body work. cages can be fit much more subtly in an MKII

http://www.twobrutal.co.uk/forum/images/recovered/2012/05/26.jpg

http://www.twobrutal.co.uk/forum/images/recovered/2011/04/34.jpg

also, those connectors on the tail light wires aren't designed to be exposed to the elements, please say you're not using those kind of terminals to run anything critical.

that said, the body work is top notch, I'm seriously impressed! I'd love to help you out if you want a 2gr in there.

peggyontherun
02-05-2012, 20:50
@ Gouky - Cheers the cage was a struggle to get into the car as the Lambo is just so low the roof level it will do the job. The connectors arent running much power through them and i have a compartment behind the rear lights that all the wires sit up into so there is no chance they will be exposed. A 2gr ?? Im not mechanically good you may explain to me ro do you have a picture ??? Sorry :-()

on those connectors I'm worried about corrosion, not power dissipation.

ive changed it now mate gone for a more quiet sound then howl at top end so the bottom end growl has gone, so at 70 mph cough and 3000 ish rpm i can hear myself think and listen to the radio with out it being at deafening levels.
and the bodywork has moved on a bit the arches are still there but ive now got snorkels and a front splitter comming, not as tasty as this lambo project but i think he gets the idea of the 2gr engine with our little clips.

That is really coming together. I have to say, you have an incredible eye for contours, and edges, and even with the attention to detail, the big picture isn't lost. It's mind-blowing that you can get one section at a time to meet your standards and still have it match and flow with every other piece you've worked on.

Bravo!

That is truly something to be proud of.

If this is like the Extreme version with the 11" chassis stretch then a V12 will definitely go in there without a cabin intrusion, if it hasn't had the chassis stretch then it won't.

Dang that's too bad. You need a v6 that's throaty though!!!! Toyota v6s are raspy. What about a Nissan VQ? You could use the maxima tranny for a transverse. Like I said, I'm no where near being an expert.

Not sure about this stage of the project personally...first off let me say that there's been some cracking work done on the bodywork so far and I do like the whole idea of not doing 'just another' replica. I also freely admit I wouldn't have the skills or patience to get it this far.

That said, I just think those disks are letting the side down a bit. Looks a lot less noticeable in black but they are visibly not round. Also the shape of the front arch looks quite lumpy - hope that's not finalised?

Not having a dig, just constructive criticism as I think it'd be a real shame to spoil some of the fantastic touches so far by a few bits of corner cutting.

Hope you take it in the spirit it's intended.

Very nice!

It's all this time that makes the finished item all that better. At least you don't have to guess how thick your paint is going to be when creating your door gaps, as long as there's room for two layers of wrap.

Keep the updates coming mate.

Looking real good Sean.

When you said you were wrapping the car i thought you meant vinyl, not bubble! lol.

Is the carbon fibre a water transfer type?

It's all coming together nicely, keep at it.

@ KalBristol - it probably is dipped as the scoop was hand made so it will never be 100% the single wiper conversion is a Citroen C1 wiper motor

Not entirely sure why you're fitting arches? I think that might be a bit like putting furry dice in an Aston Martin DB9.....

IMHO.

And I still think you need a V6 in that car to make the right noises!

@ adamh - ha ha that civic is for drag racing

@ cdwood2010 - the wide arches are being fitted as my arches were all hand made so the roundness of them are a bit off so wide arches are the only way and i'm trying to for this look

I always look forward to this thread, as it's something genuinely different. Liking the wide arches which I think will make it even more unique. It's gonna be W-I-D-E though!

On a less positive note, in the 1st pic of your May 21st post, the swage lines etc around the rear quarter don't look too good (from that shot anyway). I know your white wrap will be relatively forgiving of imperfections, but it'd be a shame to leave it like that, if it really looks like that and it's not just the pic?

What I actually meant was the bodywork *above* the rear arch looks kinda 'ripply' from the shot posted...I can see from what you've done at the front that the arch itself should look a lot better once you're done. Bit of a shame that you're fully blending it actually, as I think the 'bolt-on' effect suited the race styling better. But I can see how it'd be difficult to do it any other way.

Are you having to re-think the wheels now you've added extra width to the bodywork? Or are you doing some mechanical revisions to widen the track?

peggyontherun
26-05-2013, 17:27
No worries all the lines have to be finished off before i wrap the car so will be spending a week at that in the next few weeks.

The wheel have to come out and extra 30mm to meet the aches lines to its no too bad and trying to get an engineer to re-design the drive shaft and suspension

Coming on there. Are you planning to reinstate any groove where the arch meets the bodywork? As it is, it just seems a bit odd with the bolts sitting there when it's clearly bonded and blended??

To be honest, even doing it with a black pinstripe would probably give the required effect. :eusa_think:

I never thought I would see it looking this good or this complete. Very impressive, well done. Here in the states (just in this town alone)- there are two Lambo kit cars that are on Fiero chassis and have both been sitting unfinished for years and I will bet they will never be finished. I assumed that same fate would befall your car, but no- WOW you have skills and ambition with the money to back it up. Great job!
