I am looking a preping my E153 gearbox for a 2gr conversion.
I want a nice low rpm cruising 5th gear that isn't too high to still pull to redline (if ever on a track with a long enough straight of course) but still want the acceleration of 1st-4th standard closer ratios.
Obviously the first thing i will do is change to the camry 3vz 3.625 final drive cog. That would bring 110kph down to 2650prm is 5th but, that still seems too high for my wanting as i will be doing plenty of hiway cruising.
I would like a cruising rpm similar to that of the 6th gear in the camry/aurion which is 2000rpm at 110kph.
Would a ratio like this still leave me with enough grunt to pull through to higher rpm ?
This is assuming my 2gr is fairly standard say 270rwhp, so anyone with 2gr driving experience might have some insight that can help me.
